NexStride® by Drive® uses laser and sound cues to help improve mobility. It can provide additional support and stability for users experiencing mobility challenges, including those with conditions such as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, stroke, or other neuromobility difficulties. It attaches to your preferred mobility aid: cane, walker, rollator or walking pole.

Watch how laser cues and rhythmic beats help improve mobility and increase independence. NexStride clips onto any walker, rollator, cane, or walking pole in seconds. Activate the laser line, choose the rhythm, and walk with more stability and confidence.

NexStride’s cues have been shown to reduce falls by up to 40%.* Clinical studies show improvement in gait freezing and walking confidence for people with Parkinson's.**

It is common to feel fear after a fall. You may go from participating in your normal activities to being limited from others. NexStride goes with you on your mobility device to help support steadier steps and reduce fall-related concerns.
Don’t let instability, unsteadiness, or fear strip you of your independence. NexStride will provide cues that help users maintain a steady rhythm and more confident movement, “lighting” the way back to a more independent life.

Here are answers to the most common questions we get about NexStride by Drive.
Our goal is to help you feel confident in your decision to invest in your independence.
NexStride is a small, portable device that can attach to a cane, walker, or walking stick. It uses visual and audio cues—specifically a laser line and metronome—that are shown in research to improve walking and reduce fall risk.
Do you notice that you or your loved one are shuffling feet or taking a lot of small quick steps? NexStride can help users take slower, bigger, safer steps.
Audible Metronome: NexStride’s metronome emits an audible signal, engaging a different pathway in your brain to enable you to move forward. You step to the beat of the metronome. It guides your walking speed.
Visual Laser Line: The laser signal shows you where to step, giving your brain a target to focus on and a new way to engage with the body (this can also help correct stride issues). It guides your step length.
Research has shown that NexStride’s visual and auditory cues can benefit people with mobility impairments from Parkinson’s, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, as well as people who are not diagnosed with any neuromobility disorder. If you have questions about whether NexStride will benefit you, it is best to speak to your physical therapist or doctor about your specific situation.
Absolutely! That is a great way to make sure you or your loved one are using NexStride in a way that will most benefit your life. Most physical therapists are already familiar with these visual and auditory cues and help you get set up with them.
